Story:

I was extremely blessed to have my maternal grandmother living in our home, as I grew up.  Even as a child I knew her end of life wishes, as it was a conversation she and my Mom had multiple times. Since they were able to discuss those things, my Mom was able to honor her wishes without second guessing herself when faced with those difficult decisions. That example instilled in me the importance of sharing with my family and loved-ones my end of life care wishes. Seeing how that burden was lifted from my Mom, I wanted that same peace for those that I care about. I’m grateful to my parents as they have carried on that mindset and are able to speak openly with myself and my siblings regarding their wishes.
